Traffic Safety Program

The role of the Traffic Safety Coordinator is to work alongside the communities to recognize areas of concern and reduce injuries and fatalities within our Member First Nations. We achieve this by providing education, awareness and prevention on traffic-related issues, including:

  • Impaired Driving Prevention. Report Impaired Driving/RID and Friends for Life signs.
  • Distracted Driving Prevention
  • One Simple Decision Simulator, fatal vision goggles
  • Roll-over Simulator
  • Car Seat Clinics
  • Bike and pedestrian safety
  • Helmet safety
  • School bus safety ATV
  • SGI Legislation changes
  • Informational booths at career fairs and Treaty Days
  • Smudge Walks promoting pedestrian and driver safety

Eligibility

SGI funds this program. Community grants are available to our STC Member First Nations, and we will send out reminders for application dates.
