Saskatoon Tribal Council invites STC First Nations band members to apply for the following:

Board of Director – 1 Opening – STC Industrial Contracting Ltd. and Keys Welding

The Saskatoon Tribal Council through its investment company, STC Investments, is the sole shareholder of STC Industrial Contracting LP/GP which in turn owns Keys Welding Services. One position is being added to the Board of Directors of these corporations. The successful applicant will serve on both the board of STC Industrial Contracting and Keys Welding Services. Board meetings occur quarterly and consecutively, one day each quarter.

The Company

The STCI Group, which includes STC Industrial Contracting and Keys Welding Services, provides the complete scope of execution for industrial construction projects, CWB and T-Sask fabrication, facility maintenance and site services. As a wholly First Nations owned Industrial Contracting company, the focus is delivering safe, competitive, quality services to our clients, and engagement and growth to Indigenous communities and people. Building from the Tribal Council values of Fairness, Integrity, Respect and Excellence we aim to be the industry leader for Indigenous construction and maintenance services throughout the province, and beyond.

Responsibilities

The board oversees the conduct of the business and affairs of both corporations, STC Industrial and Keys Welding, supervises its management and uses reasonable efforts to gain reasonable assurance that all major issues affecting the corporation are given appropriate consideration.  The Board oversees the development, approval and monitoring of the strategic plan. It is accountable to the shareholder to establish procedures for good corporate governance to achieve the corporations mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

STC is looking a member of it seven member Nations to sit on this board, so candidates must be an STC band member. While not necessary, candidates who have a strong understanding of tax law, specifically as it relates to First Nations owned corporations and First Nations employees and/or a good understanding and relations/connections with Provincial and Federal governmental agencies and representatives, and/or a strong understanding and skillset within brand development, marketing, and promotion would be an asset. As well, ideally, candidates would have training in board governance or experience in board governance.

The board terms will be three years and will commence once process is complete and successful candidates selected.
