The Kinistin Saulteaux First Nation opened their new urban office today.
Located in downtown Saskatoon at 202 2nd Ave North, the new office will be home to four employees including two urban navigators.
The urban navigators will be providing outreach and follow-up services addressing the social and emotional needs of urban clients. They will also work to locate vulnerable membership to offer support to access resources and help navigating systems that might appear as road blocks to connecting and receiving necessary basic living supports.
The urban community navigators will provide information about services, provide practical supports, assist in filling out forms and provide advocacy.
The office is not just for Kinistin Saulteaux band members but is offering services to all First Nations. Training for employment will also be a big component done out of the office.
The urban office will allow urban members to feel more connected to their home community.
