Position Summary
The Food Security Projects & Equipment Technician works from May-November and supports Muskeg Lake Cree Nation’s Food Sovereignty initiatives by completing special projects, construction‑related work, and equipment operation and maintenance. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and preparing the physical infrastructure that supports food production, rather than daily gardening activities.
Working under the direction of the Food Security Manager, the Technician will assist with projects such as greenhouse improvements, preparation for the new food security facility, upgrades to the outdoor kitchen, construction of garden boxes and structures, and general repairs. This position is also responsible for operating and maintaining equipment and vehicles used by the Food Security Department, ensuring everything is safe, functional, and ready for use by garden staff.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and supporting a team through practical skills and technical knowledge.
