Job Summary
Having enacted its Financial Administration Law under the authority of the Fiscal Management Act, the Nation is looking for an experienced businessperson(s) to join its Finance and Audit Committee (FAC). The Finance and Audit Committee assists the administration and the Governing Council in carrying out its oversight responsibilities for financial reporting, internal control, and risk management processes.
The appointment would be for a three (3) year term and staggered with a 2-year appointment the Committee member would be expected to commit to preparing for and attending a minimum of five (5) Committee meetings per year. Members must be independent of the Nation and free of any Conflict of Interest. This includes, not serving in any other capacity for the Nation including other Boards/Committees/Corporations/Contracts, etc. Independence: An individual is independent if they do not have a direct or indirect financial relationship with the First Nation that could, in the opinion of Council, reasonably interfere with the individual’s exercise of independent judgment as a member of the Finance and Audit Committee with the below exception: An individual who has a role in the financial management of the First Nation involving the planning, organizing, directing or controlling of its financial activities — including budgeting, financial accounting, financial reporting, procurement and utilization of funds is not considered independent.
