On August 21, 2026, the Saskatoon Tribal Council identified a cybersecurity incident that targeted our network and may have resulted in unauthorized access to personal information for some members of our community.

Once detected, the Saskatoon Tribal Council initiated an immediate response and began an investigation to assess and contain the threat with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts. Saskatoon law enforcement was immediately engaged. Through our investigation, we have determined that personal information such as government-issued identifiers, health information, child and family service records, employment and HR records, and financial information may have been impacted.

Our review into the incident is ongoing, and the team is working diligently to restore and assess impacted systems. Individuals determined to have been impacted will be notified directly, and will be offered credit monitoring at no cost. Out of an abundance of caution, we encourage all members of our community to:

• Be alert for phishing attempts, including suspicious emails, phone calls, or text messages requesting personal information.

• Be vigilant and carefully monitor their accounts, credit reports, and statements for any unusual activity.

If you have shared sensitive personal information with the Saskatoon Tribal Council (such as government-issued identification, health information, or financial information) and are concerned you may be affected, or require support, please email response@sktc.sk.ca

Additional information about protecting yourself from identity theft can be found at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).

The Saskatoon Tribal Council’s utmost priority is the safety of our community and the continuity of critical services. We are taking this matter extremely seriously and are committed to continuously enhancing our cybersecurity measures to protect the information entrusted to us. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
